Oil gold leaf, butcher block paper, on canvas
($1,000 of the sale will go to the NAACP)
Detroit pulled this painting out of me in 2018. I saw the powerful voice of an 8 year old girl speak the words of Sojourner. Little Miss Flint, Mary Copany, watching her community suffer without clean water, as of this very moment, connecting her voice to that speech as powerful and important in 1871, as it is today.
